Webinar “Busting economic myths in wind power engineering”

Share this post

At the webinar we will be “knocking over” some established myths in facts and figures, rather than in just words.

Many countries around the world are now committed to the development of renewable energy. In Europe, for example, wind energy plays a key role in energy transition. Entire governments and large companies are promoting solutions for wind energy projects. Commissioning capacities are being increased, billions of dollars are being invested in the creation of wind farms, and the technologies themselves are being developed. How do we know what it really is: a good politicking, a business supported by lobbyists and fertilised with subsidies, or the new wind energy industry is just simply really effective?

In Russia, there are opinions that “windmills” never return the energy spent on their production and installation. And what do the figures show? Are the fears caused by noise, vibration and the impact on the ecosystems of wind turbines reasonable?

At the webinar we’ll talk about:

  • Wind-based generation payback;
  • Economic benefits at each stage of the WPP project life cycle;
  • “Damage” caused by wind turbines and their impact on the environment etc.

You’ll find out:

  • Who benefits and who needs wind farms?
  • Do wind turbines really “shake much enough to cause worms to come out of the soil”?
  • Whether green energy is depleting the earth’s resources or not?
  • What amount of carbon footprint does wind energy leave?

It will be useful to: all supporters and opponents of renewable energy, journalists and bloggers covering renewable energy.

Speaker: Maxim Averbukh, Director General of CJSC Zavod Elektromet (RAWI member). Director of the Institute for commodity market predictions, blogger.

Date held: November 07, 2019

Duration: from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Moscow time)

Post-webinar, RAWI’s YouTube channel will contain the footage of the webinar.

Care to know the truth about wind power engineering?

We look forward to seeing you at the webinar!

Legends and myths about the harm of renewable energy should not take place in our country as an instrument of environmental blackmail and should not influence the choice of policy in the definition of energy strategy, so these and other economic and environmental aspects of wind power engineering, explanations of leading experts will be presented during the plenary discussion “Wind energy and global warming. Wind Power Ecology”, one of the key sessions of RAWIFORUM 2020, which is being held on February 19-20.
