The leader of the global wind energy market, Vestas (RAWI member), has exceeded the 100 GW, the company said in a press release. Since the first installation of the V10-30 kW turbine in Denmark in 1979, Vestas installed more than 66,000 in the world. This is the largest installed capacity of a single wind turbine manufacturer in the world. It is enough to note that for 2018, 539 GW of wind generators were installed in the world in total.
“Today, Vestas celebrates that we in 2018 have surpassed the milestone of having installed 100 GW of wind in around 80 countries. I want to use this opportunity to thank you, your team and RAWI for supporting Vestas in reaching this important milestone. Wind energy is today mainstream energy and contributing to a greener world while creating jobs and growth. These achievements have been enabled by ambitious policies, thought leadership, and not least, your efforts and support. We thank you for that and hope to continue our strong collaboration.
Our 100 GW milestone underlines that the wind industry is for some time now no longer a niche. Wind is today among the most cost-efficient forms of energy and has driven down the cost more than 50 percent during the last 10 years. And as we continue to drive down the cost of energy it also creates a larger, more sustainable and long-term market. This means that wind energy will increasingly be able to compete in the broader energy market. The world of energy is rapidly evolving, which creates new exciting opportunities, and we rely on your continued and highly valued support.” – notes in his letter to Igor Bryzgunov, the RAWI Chairman Johannes Schiel, Head of Public Affairs of Vestas Northern & Central Europe
The Russian Association of Wind Industry thanks Vestas for appreciating its activities and for supporting RAWI and on behalf of its members congratulates Vestas on reaching such a significant milestone and notes that in the Russian market the company, having the most significant order portfolio, with its Russian partners creates a full-fledged wind generator industry .
We hope that the company, increasing the pace of its development, will strengthen the upward trends in the development of the domestic wind energy market.
RAWI members can find in their personal account the coordinates of the responsible employees of the company to congratulate them on such a significant achievement.
