Installation work on the construction of wind turbines was completed at the site in Cherdaklinsky area. 14 wind turbines with a capacity of 3.6 MW each were installed.  “In alternative energy, we see an opportunity aside from reducing dependence on hydrocarbon production, lowering the ecosystem load, also to diversify the economy and quickly increase the share of high-tech industries. And this is the most important strategic priority for the development of this state and this region. At the beginning of 2018, the first in the country industrial wind park with a capacity of 35 MW was commissioned in the Ulyanovsk Oblast. In the summer, the second 50 MW wind farm construction began. And now its installation is completed. Wind turbines of the new park will start generating energy as early as in the first half of 2019,” – said the region’s head Sergey Morozov. Let us recall the component supplier for the Ulyanovsk wind farm was the Danish company Vestas, selected as the global technology partner of the joint the Wind Development Investment Fund jointly established by the finnish company Fortum PJSC and RUSNANO JSC, which are building the facility. “Completion of the wind turbines installation is an important stage in the implementation of the Vetroenergetika Management Company project in the Ulyanovsk Oblast. The new wind farm will start producing green energy as early as 2019. UVES-2 is the first sign of the large-scale investment programme of Vetroenergetika MC, which provides for the construction of almost 2 GW of wind-generating facilities by 2023,” – said the CEO of Vetroenergetika (which manages the Wind Development Investment Fund) Alexander Chuvaev. “We highly appreciate the active assistance of the Ulyanovsk Oblast’s authorities in the investment projects execution in the wind energy sector. Next year, the first wind farm, built as part of the “Wind Development Investment Fund”, will go into action in the region. When it was created for the first time in Russia, the Denmark-based company Vestas’s equipment, the world leader in the production of wind turbines, was used. We are confident that the wind farm RUSNANO and Fortum in Ulyanovsk will turn a model for several more regions where the Fund plans to launch new generating capacities using wind energy,” – said Alisher Kalanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vetroenergetika MC. During the construction of the second wind farm, Vestas wind turbines based on the platform V126-3.45 MW were used. These are the first wind turbines installed in Russia that contain elements produced as part of the company’s localization programme: the nacelles are assembled in Nizhny Novgorod, the blades and the towers of the wind generators have been finished at the very site of the wind farm in Ulyanovsk. “The timely and safe installation of 14 wind turbines was made possible thanks to the well-coordinated and professional work of the team of the Wind Development Investment Fund and Vestas. A distinctive feature of this wind park is that we’ve used components localized in Russia. The development of renewable energy in Russia is beyond the commissioning of new energy facilities, it also includes the development of industry, education, and science,” – said Kimal Yusupov, CEO of Vestas Russia. Simultaneously with the construction of the wind farm, a plant for the production of blades is being built. In the Ulyanovsk region, Vestas Manufacturing Rus LLC localizes the manufacture of composite blades for wind turbines. The project partners are Vestas, RUSNANO and the Consortium of Investors of the Ulyanovsk Oblast, which includes the Ulyanovsk Nanocenter and the Ulyanovsk Oblast Development Corporation. The first blades are to be produced no later than early 2019. Source: the Governor and the Government of the Ulyanovsk Oblast official website
