On November 8 in Rimini, Italy, within the framework of the international exhibition Key Energy, the round table “Wind Energy: International Market“, Russian legislation on supporting wind energy was named the best in the world. This view was expressed by the President of the Italian Association of the Wind Industry (ANEV) Simone Togni (Simone Togni), summarizing the speech of the Chairman of the Russian Association of the Wind Power Industry (RAWI), Igor Bryzgunov.

Until recently, the world wide model of support for wind energy, (so-called feed-in tariff), based on the extra charge for the sale of electricity by wind farms to the grid, not related to the level of construction costs and the cost of energy produced, does not demand of a national production. Russian legislation since its inception in May 2013 requires not only a high degree of localization of wind parks (65% from 2019), but also limits the capital investment costs for construction and regulates the volume of annual capacity commissioning.

In recent years, wind energy support models have been changing in many countries. Limited-volume auctions are being appeared, where the main criterion for winning is the cost of generated energy, which stimulates the improvement of wind power technology.

The event was also attended by representatives of ANEV, Vestas, Siemens, WindEurope, E2i, ERG.

The issues of further development of support for the Russian wind energy market will be discussed on December 6 at the Xth National RAWI Conference in Moscow.
