Vestas (a member of the RAWI) has set a target on producing zero-waste wind turbines by 2040. At the webinar by the Russian Wind Power Industry Association, Allan Korsgaard Poulsen, Head of Advanced Structures and Sustainability, is presenting a study on circular economy on June 25, 2021.
Last year, Vestas introduced a sustainability strategy – ‘Sustainability in Everything We Do’. Since then Vestas has been working on the development and implementation of the strategy that has certain focus on carbon emission and circular economy and the world’s leading wind OEM has already started on this journey.
In addition, in 2020, Vestas spearheaded a blade recycling coalition entitled CETEC (Circular Economy for Thermosets Epoxy Composites), which is funded by the Danish Innovation Fund. Together with the Danish Technological Institute (DTI) and Aarhus University, Vestas plans to develop a wind turbine blade processing solution ready for industrial adoption within three years.
During the presentation, Allan K. Poulsen will place a special focus on the crucial challenge of composite materials recycling. The sustainable (or green) economy must be truly green and environmentally friendly.
The webinar will be moderated by Roman Denisov, analyst of the Association, and a scientist of the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University’s Institute of Civil Engineering’s Higher School of Hydrotechnical and Power Engineering.
The study will be presented in English and followed by interpretation to Russian.

Allan Korsgaard Poulsen is Head of Advanced Structures and Sustainability, Vestas Innovation and Concepts.
Allan K. Poulsen holds a Master degree in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Physical Chemistry.
His focal area is the development of sustainable materials, concepts and components for Vestas’ future product portfolio. He has been working with business, technology and material development throughout his whole career. He is active in several wind organisations on sustainability and sits on the core group working across the entire Vestas value chain dealt with development and implementation of the company’s global sustainability strategy.
