Peikko Group CEO – Winner of Finland’s 2020 EY Entrepreneur of the Year

Topi Paananen, CEO of Finland’s Peikko Group (a member of the RAWI), representing Finland, has been named the winner of the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year 2020 competition. The award was presented at a digital event held on January 15, 2021.

The competition has been organised for more than 30 years by the consultancy EY. The competition aims to identify entrepreneurs who inspire others with their vision, leadership, and achievements. In 2020, 54 companies participated in the Finnish event, and in total, entrepreneurs from more than 50 countries took part in the competition.

Topi Paananen has held executive positions at Peikko since 2005. The company’s revenue has grown by approximately EUR 200 million during these 15 years. At the same time, 95% of the growth has occurred organically.

Peikko Group established its own manufacturing facilities in 11 countries, as well as own technical support and sales services in 34 countries, which provide localised services to the company’s end customers. The long-term development has also included significant investment in R&D, including in the area of sustainability in construction.

Topi Paananen comments, “We are very grateful to receive this recognition. It proves that we as a company are in the right track to serve our customers in the best possible way. This award also belongs to the whole Peikko team which has, particularly in 2020, achieved extraordinary efforts when increasing our business volume and significantly improving our profitability.”

As a reminder, Peikko has a localised production facility in St Petersburg, Russia, which produces foundation elements for wind turbines. Deliveries are made to both the Russian and European markets. A number of projects were suspended in 2020, but the company expects to resume operations in 2021.
