By the end of 2021, four wind power plants will come online in the Stavropol Krai, according to the plans of the regional Ministry of Energy. Among them are the 210 MW Kochubeyevskaya wind farm in Kochubeyevsky district, the 120 MW Bondarevskaya wind farm in Ipatovsky urban district, the 60 MW Karmalinovskaya wind farm in Novoalexandrovsky urban district, and the 60 MW Medvezhinskaya wind farm in Trunovsky district.

The projects are being implemented by the NovaWind, a wind power subsidiary of the national group Rosatom.

The construction of the Kochubeyevskaya wind farm is scheduled to finish by the end of 2020, with the remaining three in 2021. The projected cumulative capacity of the wind farms is 450 MW. When it comes to renewable energy, the regional consumption is also covered by 100 MW of solar power generated at a project in the Grachevsky district. The project was commissioned in the spring of 2020.

In addition, three more wind farms with a total capacity of over 360 MW are planned to be built by the end of 2024. Tasked by the regional leader, Vladimir Vladimirov, the local Ministry of Industry is working on the possible buildout of about 500 MW of additional wind projects in the Stavropol Krai. Potential sites for their placement have already been selected.
