Title: How to make the Oil & Gas sector more sustainable by means of system integration with Renewable Energy sector.

Best practices and lessons learned from the Netherlands

Date: Thursday 2 July 1pm – 2pm, CET

English translation / interpretation into Russian

About the webinar:

The Russian Oil & Gas sector is starting to look at investments for Renewable Energy for several reasons. On the one side to meet the targets of the UN Gloabal Climate Directive and on the other side to electrify remote production locations. To electrify these remote areas, wind on land is a good solution that contribute to both goals. However, the renewable energy sector and the oil & gas sector in Russia are relatively new to each other. In other parts of the world the necessity for both sectors to cooperate (system integration) is even stronger and therefore there are some interesting lessons learned. Prof. Jepma from the New Energy Coalition, the Netherlands has led several projects on  the topics of offshore energy, power-to-gas and system integration and will share his lessons learned with you accompanied with case examples and best practices. Because a cooperation between the Oil & Gas sector and the Renewable Energy sector can create synergies for both sectors.

Key topics:

  • Energy supply of industrial locations with the use of RES
  • The relevance of system integration and power-to-gas;
  • Best practices from the Netherlands;
  • Economic efficiency of wind energy/solar energy projects for your own consumption;
  • Potential for renewable energy development for the needs of oil and gas sector to meet the targets of UN Global Climate Directive;

Expert:

Catrinus Jepma is one of New Energy Coalition’s energy experts and professor of Energy and Sustainability at the University of Groningen. His field of expertise is energy policy and markets, environmental impact and policy issues, energy efficiency measures and energy technologies. Thanks to his years of involvement as (coordinating) lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), professor Jepma received a personalised certificate for his share in the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the IPCC in 2007.

Alexey Khokhlov – head of Power and Utilities of Energy Centre, Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO. Boasts many years of experience in strategic consulting; is an expert in strategy development, organisation design and business process optimisation; has advised major Russian and international power and oil and gas companies, as well as nuclear industry enterprises.

Moderator:

Leon Stille has been General Manager of the Energy Delta Institute, part of New Energy Coalition since September 2019. Before that he worked for 7 years as Business Development Manager Renewable Gas & Innovation and Renewable Energy at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). He has also worked in commercial roles for several energy companies such as Dutch distribution system operator Alliander and international oil and gas technology supplier Frames. He holds an MSc in renewable energy technology and BSc in Earth Sciences from the University of Utrecht.
