«Russia has the richest wind capacity in the world
that could become the most powerful energy source»

Second National Conference

«The most important issues of the wind power

development in Russia.  Heading for a new energy concept»

The Second National Conference of Russian Association of Wind Industry (RAWI) – “The most important issues of the wind power development in Russ

ia.  Heading for a new energy concept” - is held on the 12th of November, 2010, in Moscow.
Russia has been claiming its goal to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy balance of the country for a certain time. Relevant laws and legal documents have been adopted already, but renewable sources still generate less than 1% of the total energy in Russia.
But the natural process can’t be stopped. The wind power market is one of the most rapidly developing markets in the world, in 2009 it expanded by 31%. Now Russia stands for only 0.013%. This position is ridiculous for a country with the highest wind potential and can’t stay the same for long.
Despite all the barriers, some significant steps were made for the wind developments in Russia in 2010:
 -  Resolution N850 dated 20.10.2010 where the Government approves the criteria for compensation of technical connection of generators to grids;
- Program of modernization of the electric energy in Russia for the period up to 2020 (being developed at the request of the Ministry of Energy). One of the sub-programs presupposes development of the renewable energy, including the wind.
Therefore, due to the ongoing process of legal support of renewables, the Second National Conference of RAWI will focus on technologies and techniques of the industry and its development in Russia.
Russian and international business companies (including VESTAS – one of the largest manufacturers of wind turbines in the world), designers and operators, developers, potential investors, scientists and experts will take part in the conference.
The conference will consist of the following specified sections:
  - international and national mechanisms and indicators of the wind energy development;
- legal support of the wind power projects;
- practical aspects of the wind power projects;
- investments in the wind energy;
- wind power technologies.

The conference will be also joined by Mr Vladimir Kaschenko, CEO of Atomenergomash, the equipment producer of Rosatom. He will speak about strategic plans of the company to enter the Russian and international market of the renewable energy.
Delegates from various world and European wind energy communities have also confirmed their participation. Secretary General of GWEC Mr Steve Sawyer is among them.

The venue: Moscow, the Redisson Slavyanskaya Hotel (2 Europe sq., Kievskaya subway station)
Opening: 09.30.

Reference: RAWI is a non-governmental organization established in 2003. Today it unites governmental and private companies and structures that are interested in wind power developments in Russia. RAWI represents Russia in EWEA and GWEC.
